Useful work is narrow: a discharge summary you will still edit, a prior-auth packet from documents you already have, a patient-facing explanation of a plan the clinician already chose. Anything that invents a dose, a diagnosis, or a citation is a board event.
PHI does not belong in a consumer ChatGPT tab. If the health system cannot name the workspace, the retention, and the BAA, the seat is not a productivity tool. It is an incident.
Skip symptom checkers, ambient scribes you have not trialled with your compliance officer, and a second “AI copilot” because the EHR shipped a chat pane. Measure time on one note type for a month. Confirm list prices. Keep a human on anything that becomes a record.
If you cannot say where the prompt went, do not paste the note.
