One writer, one editor, one claims list

Most writing stacks fail by buying three generators and no editor. Pick one model for drafts, one layer for cleanup, and a list of words Legal will not sign. Everything else is a subscription looking for a job.

A writing stack is three seats, not ten. One model drafts. One layer edits. One list of claims a lawyer will still sign. If you buy Jasper and Copy.ai and Writesonic because each deck promised a different workflow, you will ship three slightly different versions of the same paragraph and nobody will know which one is allowed.

I ran the Writing & Content bench that way on purpose. ChatGPT is the tab for work that jumps. Claude is the long document you still have to sign. Grammarly is the edit pass, not the writer. Writer is the leash when Legal already has a list. Jasper is a mill for volume you already have a voice for. Sudowrite is fiction. Mixing those jobs is how you get a ferry ticket in a coat pocket, or a “guaranteed” in a sales email.

The draft seat

Pick ChatGPT if the day is messy and short. Pick Claude if the file is long and named. Pick Gemini if the file already sits in Google and you refuse a second tab. Pick Copilot only if the file already sits in Microsoft. That is the whole decision. You do not need two general models “for coverage.” You need one you will actually open, and a human who will kill the invented number.

The edit seat

Grammarly catches the typo and then offers a stranger’s manners. Take the typo. Leave the “hope this finds you well.” Writer is the other edit seat: it fires on banned claims if someone loaded the list. Without the list it is an expensive underline. Do not buy both unless Legal is actually in the building and the site is large enough to drift. One editor. Maintain it.

The list

The list is not a vibe. It is the words you will not print: #1, guaranteed, HIPAA without a BAA, a statistic you cannot open. Anyword will score a headline that invented a round number. Writesonic will put a water-resistance rating on a spec sheet that did not have one. Jasper will write a cousin of a banned superlative. The list is how you catch cousins. If nobody owns the list, you do not have a writing stack. You have a generator.

Skip this stack if

Skip a second generator if you cannot name the job the first one failed. Skip Writer if Legal has no list. Skip Sudowrite if the job is a blog. Skip the whole shopping spree if you will not reread the paragraph. One writer, one editor, one list. If a fourth tool cannot say which of those three it replaces, do not buy it.
